Position Description


Supervises and directs the work and safety of grounds keeping employees. While actively participating in the same moderately heavy manual work. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to hazardous equipment and heights.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Knowledge and use of chainsaw, bucket trucks and stump grinders.
  • Strong understanding of safety alongside equipment and surroundings.
  • Knowledge of Trees and proper cutting techniques.
  • Monitor employees' work level and review work performance.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Examine grounds, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • This is an essential personnel position. You will need to be available on call duty for emergency maintenance or to assist in campus preparation due to inclement weather or hazardous weather conditions.



    Required Qualifications

    Completion of high school or the equivalent, preferably including courses in Spanish. Three years experience in grounds maintenance, including experience in equipment operation and gardening techniques.



    Preferred Qualifications

    • Class A Commercial Driver's License.
    • Knowledge and experience in all grounds maintenance activities and equipment.
