The deaf and hard of hearing community rely on TRS to communicate over the phone with friends and family. Requirements:Call Center Representative - CSD Communication AssistantA Communication Assistant relays telephone calls between deaf, hard of hearing, and speech-impaired consumers (TTY users) and hearing consumers through the telephone network.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Excellent communication skillsAbility to speak clearly and pronounce and enunciate complex words and sentence structure; ability to effectively verbally communicate using voice inflection, adjust tone and volumeAbility to read text aloud from a computer and listen to spoken word and transcribe to text on a computerExcellent grammar and spellingAbility to learn and understand complex computer communication software, shortcuts and command functionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to adapt to schedules influenced by call volume fluctuationsQualificationsA minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent18 years of age or olderAbility to type at 60 words per minute with minimal errors (to graduate training)45 words per minute with minimal errors to pass initial testingExcellent customer service experience and a relaxed/calm demeanorAbility to work various schedules including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidaysMust be able to pass skill assessments administered by a local recruiterOur training classes are conducted in person where within our Lubbock Center. Those classes are conducted on a Monday-Friday schedule for the span of 2 weeks. Classes run from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
