The primary function of this position involves answering
telephone calls from physician offices, inside and outside of the
clinic in order to facilitate proper handling of patients requiring
pre-certifications, referrals, RQI numbers or any kind of
authorization from an insurance company. Primary responsibilities
include speaking with medical personnel from physician practices by
phone and to gather appropriate patient information. This position
reports to the Referral and Scheduling Supervisor.
Gathers appropriate information from referring physician or
Work in EMR/Practice Management System as needed in order to input
Verify demographics and any other pertinent information prior to
patient visit to clinic.
Contacts insurance companies via telephone or internet to gather
Works closely with the Physician Referral Service in aiding
physicians outside of Grace Clinic.
Obtains pre-certification, referrals for patients requiring medical
services in Grace Clinic and facilitating requests for patients
need to see a physician or facility that is outside of Grace
Obtains RQI's and other pre-authorization numbers for procedures in
the Ambulatory Surgical Center or the Imaging Center at Grace
Obtains RQI's and other pre-authorization numbers for procedures
that are performed at facilities that are outside of Grace Clinic
that may or may not be affiliated with Grace Clinic.
Minimum Position Qualification:
H.S. Diploma or GED
4 yearsMedical office experience.
Experience using Microsoft based systems.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
4 yearsMedical office experience dealing with scheduling,
telephone calls, prior pre-certification/ pre-authorization, as
