Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

**Major/Essential Functions:**

The College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisor will be responsible to assist with covering the following essential duties:

+ Consult and advise the Department Chair of Public Relations (PR) and PR faculty on issues affecting our students, including course availability and scheduling

+ Advise all Public Relations majors; counsel students regarding educational issues such as course selection, class scheduling and registration

+ Maintains effective customer service, teamwork and attitude

+ Answers student/faculty/staff emails, phone calls and virtual meeting requests within one business day in a kind and courteous fashion

+ Able to host virtual meetings using MS Teams or Zoom

+ Participates in Red Raider Orientations and Commencement Ceremonies

+ Maintains and updates required forms in student advising, orientations and registration

+ Maintains accurate and complete student records for all Public Relations majors

+ Stays current with TTU and national advising organizations

+ Participates in recruiting events as needed and completes degree plans for prospective PR students

+ Attends departmental meetings and maintains a relationship with the Department Chair of Public Relations

+ Clear all Public Relations majors for graduation for Fall, Spring and Summer

+ Enter information into the Registrar's Dashboard for Academic Transfers into CoMC, Changes of Degree Objectives, Identification of Major (and Minor when appropriate)

+ Takes care of specific secure information for the Director of Advising

+ Other duties as assigned
