*Position Description*
Responsible for data consolidation, data analysis, and reporting management in support of business requirements. Analyze data sets and present analytical findings to support successful business practices. This position focuses on creating operational efficiency through access to real time data and analysis of historical data enabling informed decision making as well as problem identification and resolution.

*Major/Essential Functions*

* create adhoc reports and analytics using SQL and Cognos Analytics for internal HR reporting and campus-wide customers
* Provide insight, analysis, and recommendations to our customers and team so that they can make informed business decisions
* Check and clean data, to ensure accuracy and correct figures
* Gather and consolidate data in order to make interpreting data easier
* Give recommendations on current and future data needs to our team and create plans based on information
* Collect and organize historical data to assist with open records, audits, and state and federal reporting
* Use third party software to create forms and gather information from end users


*Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's Degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT or other related area and one year of experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.
Level of understanding with programming languages, syntax structures, and data management techniques.

*Preferred Qualifications*
Exercise judgement based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities, plan and organize effectively, prioritize goals, use time efficiently, and stay on task, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, establish and maintain effective work relationships.
Experience using SQL to retrieve records from data bases as well as an understanding of SQL joins in order to merge data from multiple tables.
Experience creating tables and modeling data in databases.
Ability to work and communicate with colleagues across different departments - from applications developers to Managers and Directors - and with third-party vendors, such as Cognos.
