Location: Lubbock, TX Assignment: 13 Weeks | Night 3x12-Hour Guaranteed Hours: 36 Pay - Package Gross Pay: $2,505.00 / Week W2 / Taxable Pay: $1,224.00 / Week Per Diem: $1,281.00 / Week Guaranteed Hours / Week: 36 Job Description The Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered care to moderately acute patients requiring close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions. Working in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), or Stepdown Unit, the RN is responsible for managing complex patient conditions, monitoring cardiac and respiratory status, and responding to changes in patient condition. This role requires strong clinical judgment, experience with cardiac monitoring, and the ability to manage multiple drips and advanced therapies while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring Administer medications and titrate cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips per protocol Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias Manage central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IVs Provide blood product administration and IV therapy Participate in Rapid Response and Code Team activities Provide respiratory support including oxygen therapy, HFNC, CPAP/BIPAP, and tracheostomy care Deliver neurological monitoring for stroke, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record Adhere to infection control, isolation, and patient safety protocols Core Clinical Skills IV & Line Management IV therapy and phlebotomy Central and peripheral line care PICC line management Starting and maintaining IV access Cardiac & Telemetry Cardiac telemetry monitoring Dysrhythmia interpretation and management Pacemaker management (temporary and permanent)* Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care TR Band management* Respiratory Care Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)* Oxygen administration High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) External CPAP/BIPAP ABG interpretation* Tracheostomy care and management Neurological & Renal Care CVA (stroke) care* Seizure disorder management* Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) Pre- and post-hemodialysis care Renal failure and transplant care Medication Management Heparin protocols Cardiac and vasoactive drips with titration IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration* PCA management* Additional Clinical Areas Feeding tube care and management Wound care and wound vac management Isolation precautions Chemotherapy monitoring* Surgical drains and post-operative orthopedic care* Total joint replacement care* Work Settings Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) Cardiac Telemetry Direct Observation Unit (DOU) Certifications Preferred (*): BLS (AHA)* ACLS (AHA)* NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)* Preferred Experience Nephrology experience* Prior Stepdown or PCU nursing experience Apply now to start your next travel adventure!
