StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is the state designated Local Authority for mental health and intellectual disabilities for Lubbock, Lynn, Hockley, Cochran and Crosby Counties and the Local Authority for substance use disorders for 41 counties in the West Texas region. StarCare is currently in search of a Social Worker (bachelor or master level) to work at Sunrise Canyon Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital.
Social Service staff work with patients receiving inpatient psychiatric care at Sunrise Canyon Hospital by identifying their psychosocial, mental and emotional needs along with providing, developing, and/or aiding in the access of services to meet those needs. The Social Worker should be hardworking, motivated, empathetic, positive, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities include:

• Develops and monitors quality social work services ensuring these are available to all persons admitted to Sunrise Canyon Hospital in accordance with the Joint Commission, Medicare, and Psychiatric Hospital Licensure requirements.
• Coordinates treatment planning and ensures appropriate court commitment procedures are followed for each patient.
• Conducts a minimum of one group per week and serves on all assigned hospital committees as needed.
• Participates as a member of the treatment team to provide professional clinical social work services in order to provide for the holistic needs of the patient, to coordinate services in the hospital, and to provide for continuity across services.
• Provides assessments, family and individual support.
• Serves as a liaison with available community resources.
• Performs supportive counseling, social histories, discharge planning, and making post-discharge arrangements and other related duties, such as, are individual therapy, group therapy, patient and family education.
• Completes required documentation.
• Communicates information to supervisor and other Center employees .
• This position ensures all activities support the Mission, Vision, and Values of StarCare Specialty Health System. Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the hospital.

  Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (Master's prefered) with at least one year of full-time experience in the field of Mental Health.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment, including laptop with Microsoft Office Products (word, excel, email, etc.).
  • Must have current Texas driver's license and be insurable under Center insurance.
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
