Job Description:
DescriptionBased on the sciences of nursing practice, learning,
and change, NPD specialists use knowledge and skills in education
theory and application, career development, leadership, and program
management to support lifelong nursing professional development.
The NPDS may act as a clinician to assess and coordinate quality
patient care and may provide patient care related to specialty.
Minimal supervision required. Continuing Nursing Education
(Approved Provider Unit), Primary Nurse Planner: The Primary Nurse
Planner has ultimate authority, accountability, and responsibility
for the overall Approved Provider Unit.Required qualifications:
- Must meet the criteria to sit for the NCLEX examination and
become licensed in the state of Texas
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Those already in position without BSN will be required to
complete by 06/30/2016
- Coursework/Training: Complete NPDS Orientation Program
- Coursework/Training: Complete NPDS Portfolio Development
Workshop within 6 months of assuming position
- Texas Registered Nurse License upon hire
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon
hire
- Within 90 days of hire: National Institutes of Health Stroke
Scale Certificate - NIH Stroke Scale Training Course
- National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association upon
hire
- National Provider NRP - American Academy of Pediatrics upon
hire
- National Provider PALS - American Heart Association upon
hire
- 1 year' Experience as NPDS
- 1 year' Clinical experience in area of specialty
- Continuing Nursing Education (Approved Provider Unit) Primary
