Part-time, Night Shift Nursing Assistant I with the Nephrology

questions from our Modern Hire system. Job Summary: The Certified
Nursing Assistant performs basic patient care by assisting in the
treatment and care of patients under the direction of a licensed
nurse. Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates knowledge, judgment, and observational abilities
needed to meet patient care needs under the direction of a licensed
nurse.
- Provide patient care related to personal care/hygiene,
ambulation, and comfort.
- Assist in preparing patients for meals, delivery of meals,
feeding of patients when necessary, and providing fresh water.
- Accurately performs and reports vital signs.
- Assists in maintaining a clean environment for patients.
- Is accountable for reporting untoward incidents.
- Accurately and efficiently reports data.
- Maintains a committed and cooperative attitude with other
members of the Health Care Team.
- JACC Physicians Office:
- Transports specimens safely and accurately to appropriate
area(s).
- Transports patients to appropriate area(s) utilizing supportive
equipment as necessary. Provides assistance, guidance and direction
to visitors and patients.
- When not providing direct patient assistance, assists the
Intake Specialist and/or Chart Specialist in obtaining or returning
medical records, radiology films and pathology slides as necessary.
Prepares chart form packs for the Intake Specialist and Chart
Specialist.
- Assists the office nurse with obtaining results of laboratory
and radiology tests as requested.
- Maintains the office and exam areas with appropriate levels of
medical supplies, office supplies and forms. Coordinates ordering
of these items as needed.
- Demonstrates efficiency and accuracy in documenting on the
medical record. Seeks direction from licensed healthcare personnel
as needed.
- Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient
service.
- Participates in Quality Assurance through identification and
resolution of problems.
- Maintains a committed and cooperative attitude, promoting
teamwork and harmony by readily assisting other staff and patients
without being asked to do so.
- Serves as a back-up for other POS nursing assistants as needed.
Assists with the orientation of new employees.
- Attends mandatory JACC and department staff meetings on a
regular basis.
- JACC Medical Oncology Treatment Area:
- Transports specimens safely and accurately to appropriate
area(s).
- Transports patients to appropriate area(s) utilizing supportive
equipment as necessary. Provides assistance, guidance and direction
to visitors and patients.
- When not providing direct patient assistance, assists in
obtaining or returning medical records, radiology films and
pathology slides as necessary.
- Assists the treatment nurses with obtaining results of
laboratory and radiology tests as requested.
- Maintains the treatment areas with appropriate levels of
medical supplies, office supplies and forms. Coordinates ordering
of these items as needed. Assists in delivery of supplies to
various areas of the cancer center.
- Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient
service.
- Participates in Quality Assurance through identification and
resolution of problems.
- Maintains a committed and cooperative attitude, promoting
teamwork and harmony by readily assisting other staff and patients
without being asked to do so.
- Serves as a back-up for other nursing assistants in Medical
Oncology as needed. Assists with the orientation of new
employees.
- Attends mandatory JACC and department staff meetings on a
regular basis.
- Heart Failure Clinic (HFC):
- Assists licensed personnel with obtaining clear, diagnostic 12
Lead EKG's when ordered.
- Assists licensed personnel with obtaining clear, diagnostic
Thoracic Bio-impedance readings.
- Cardiology Associates/CMG (HC - 2):
- Provide assistance, guidance, and direction to visitors and
patients. Transport patients to appropriate areas for testing or to
the ER via wheelchair when needed.
- Work up patient charts for office visits with nursing progress
notes, PQRI forms, and any recent hospitalization or lab testing
information. (This includes abstracting and scanning necessary
information into AEMR).
- Assist licensed personnel with obtaining clear, diagnostic 12
lead EKG's when ordered.
- Obtain an accurate blood pressure on patients and then record
them where appropriate. Immediately notifying licensed personnel of
any abnormal findings.
- Assist licensed personnel by accurately documenting patient
medications and patient's responses from questions provided on the
nursing progress form (return visit) and first patient forms.
- Assist the office nurse with obtaining results of laboratory
and radiology tests as requested.
- Assist licensed personnel with faxing correspondence: i.e.
Pharmacy, orders, and approved documents to designated
destinations.
- Assists in other clinics when needed.
- Assist licensed personnel with calling No-Show patients and
rescheduling them. (Accurately document in the patients chart the
No-Show and the reason for the not being here. Assist patient with
rescheduling another appointment).
- Clean and stock the exam rooms and nurse station with supplies.
Notify supervisor or ordering personnel of supplies needed for
clinic.
- Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient
service.
- Maintains a committed and cooperative attitude, promoting
teamwork and harmony by readily assisting other staff and patients
without being asked to do so.
- Attends staff meetings on a regular basis.
- Follow policies and procedures set forth by Human Resources and
the department to which you are employed.
- Radiology:
- Prioritizing work, and provides prompt and efficient
service.
- Transporting patients to appropriate areas utilizing supportive
equipment as necessary. Provides assistance, guidance, and
direction to visitors and patients.
- When not providing direct patient assistance, assist radiology
caregivers in other radiology functions.
- Maintains holding areas with the appropriate levels of medical
supplies, office supplies, and forms.
- Demonstrates efficiency and accuracy in all imaging department
related documentation. Examples: (PACS, Teleradiography, EMR,
Teletracking,)
- Seeks direction from licensed healthcare personnel as
needed.
- Maintains a committed and cooperative attitude, promoting
teamwork and harmony by readily assisting other staff and patients
without being asked to do so.
- Assists with the orientation and training of new
employees.
- Rotates with other staff to fill call schedule for nights,
weekends and holidays.
- Follows infection control policies & procedures as it relates
to patients, equipment, supplies, and other miscellaneous items to
include cleaning equipment after each use.
- Initiates/receives/relays calls and messages, answers phones
promptly, professionally communicates with health system personnel,
medical staff, patients, families, visitors, and outside
agencies.
- Follows health system policies for safety of patients,
visitors, staff, and self. Reports any injury of same immediately
following incident in alignment with health system standards.
- Adheres to Covenant Health System policy for tardiness and
attendance.
- Endoscopy:
- Transports patients to and from the department utilizing Ticket
to Ride and 2 patient identifiers. Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education: Coursework/Training Nurse Assistant Program Licenses and
Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire.
- Required (Texas locations): Current Nursing Assistant
Certification in state of Texas within 12 months of hire or by
12/31/21, whichever comes first.
- JACC Physicians Office: No certification required.
- JACC Medical Oncology Treatment Area: No certification.
