GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESThe general responsibilities of the Director of Operations are to represent the organization in a productive, positive, and confident manner as an active member of "Team Sorghum", providing support to all entities of the organization. The Director of Operations--manages either directly or indirectly, all operations of the National Sorghum Producers (NSP) on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Director of Operations reports to the CEO, who performs personnel reviews and determines salary administration for this position.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES NSP/USCP BOARD OF DIRECTORSLiaison to Board of Directors, serves as appointed Secretary to the Board, maintains Board recordsAttends all board meetingsOrganizes and facilitates all details pertinent to board meetings and board conference callsImplements and oversees--NSP Board nomination process CEOAssistant to CEOFacilitates and coordinates all aspects of travel; maintains calendarPersonnel liaison EVENT/MEETING PLANNING----------------Plans and oversees--the following, but not limited to: all NSP and USCP board, committee, and strategy meetings; DC Fly-in; all Commodity Classic events; SICNA conference; Foundation board meeting COMMODITY CLASSIC Serves as "Team Sorghum" lead for the event and as NSP representative to Commodity Classic Affiliate Council and attends committee meetingsOversees all event planning associated with Commodity Classic YIELD CONTEST-Oversees process, awards, and reception BUDGET & FINANCIALAssists CEO with annual budgeting processReviews NSP cash disbursementsReviews and signs NSP bank reconciliations PERSONNELHires, supervises, and terminates support staffMaintains--personnel files OTHEROversees operations with support staffSupports organizational staffFulfills other assignments as delegated by CEO QUALIFICATIONS----------------Proven record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization----------------Excellent discernment,--independent--judgment, and creative problem solving skills----------------Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage peers----------------Self reliant, good problem solver and results oriented----------------Experience in a computerized work environment that utilizes Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based database----------------High proficiency in written and verbal communications----------------Accounts receivable & payable experience----------------Detailed oriented; strong organizational skills----------------Ability to work independently----------------Customer service oriented for both internal and external customers PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree (BA) from four year college or university with 5-10 years work experience; 5-10 years related experience and/or training in similar field of work; or a combination of education and experiencePreferred agriculture background LANGUAGE SKILLS--------------The individual must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of producers, organizational boards, industry representatives and the general public.-- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS--------------The individual must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, values, and additionally any skills that shall be documented.-- PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.--Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Employee would/may perform work in the following manners, including but not limited to:--standing/sitting for long periods of time (up to 8 hours), good hearing/vision enabling person to hear/see - directions/safety hazards, computer screen, and other media, work or environmental needs to fulfill responsibilities. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTSTravel is required to board meetings, annual conference, and other meetings deemed necessary by CEO. WORK ENVIRONMENTEmployee will work at the offices located at 4201 N.
