Appointment: 100% Extension (Texas A&M AgriLife ExtensionService) in the Department of Agricultural Economics. This is apermanent, full time, non-tenure track positionGeneral Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities involvedistrict leadership and coordination for Extension educationprograms and applied research in management, marketing, resources,and policy by providing technical expertise and educational programdevelopment for industry audiences such as farmers and ranchers,merchandisers, processors, and lenders. Other relevant audiencesinclude trade associations, media, and federal and state employeesworking with these Texas audiences. Overall responsibilitiesrequire individual and team efforts to plan, develop, implement,and evaluate curricula, extension education programs, and appliedresearch related to production economics, marketing, riskmanagement, technology transfer, analysis of economic choices andimpacts, development of actionable strategies to improve producerprofitability, and other issues facing crop and livestock producersand other industry clientele. Given the geographic location of thisposition, there is an expectation of a strong crop and livestockmanagement emphasis. Educational program delivery will includeExtension and other peer reviewed publications, workshops,conferences, computer and web-based software, online courses,electronic and mass media, and social media releases. Theindividual also will be responsible for developing grant &contract proposals where appropriate to support the appliedresearch and Extension efforts for the position. The successfulcandidate will be expected to cooperate with Campus and otherDistrict based Extension/Research Faculty, District ExtensionAdministrators, County Extension Agents, Regional Program Leaders,and other Specialists, as necessary in developing and deliveringnationally recognized programs for Extension faculty and clientele.Travel in- and out-of-state is necessary to fulfill jobresponsibilities. See a more detailed description of AssistantProfessor and Extension Specialist duties and expectations inWorkday.Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree, either completed, or all butdissertation, in Agricultural Economics or closely related fieldalong with coursework in one or more of the following areas; farmand ranch management, agricultural marketing, finance, policy, andrisk management is required.
